International Women's Day planning is well underway with speakers picked, venue set and progressing to the final stages to get ready for the Saturday March 10th event.

Why Does GDG Fresno and Fresno Women Techmakers celebrate International Women's Day?

From Ada Lovelace to Grace Hopper to thousands of Googlers, we're proud of the contributions women in technology have made across our industry and across our company. And we're excited by the contributions women continue to make today. Fresno Women Techmakers and Fresno GDG supports and celebrates women in technology through numerous initiatives including Small Business Supplier Diversity and Accelerate with Google programs, the Google Cultural Institute, our Women@ employee resource group and more. International Women's Day is an important moment to recognize how women have influenced the tech industry and beyond.

2017 Valley Devfest Completed for 2017 (see below for (un)Keynote

This will be the second year of Valley Devfest following the very successful Fresno DevFest over the prior 3 years. The planning committee has confirmed the date and time, Sunday October 22nd. Nancy Mohamed is the lead for the event. Last year over 300 attended and there is preparation for over 300 this year. Committees are finalizing content and all the other functions needed to put on a terrific event.  Speaker proposals and solicitations are complete with six tracks including tech talks, design, Cloud, mobile, machine learning and Maker space. There are 20 speakers presenting including Googlers and Google Development Experts. Arrangement for food include 2 food trucks, swag and other prizes expected. Contribution and fundraising has had a good start but this year will be bigger and better so we are looking for help with the costs.

Date: October 2017 Location: at Bitwise South Stadium 9 am to 4 pm

Google Developer Groups (GDGs) are for developers who are interested in Google's developer technology; everything from the AndroidChromeDrive, and Google Cloud platforms, to product APIs like the Cast APIMaps API, and YouTube API.

A GDG can take many forms - from just a few people getting together to watch Google's latest video, to large gatherings with demos and tech talks, to events like code sprints and hackathons. However, at the core, GDGs are focused on developers and technical content, and the core audience should be developers.

GDG Fresno has regular tech talks the first Thursday of the month (see calendar) and has provided hackathons too. There has been some affiliated groups arise like an active local Women Techmaker (see calendar) which meets the third Sunday of the month and information about meeting is through our calendar link and  Meetup.
